Soundtrack Your Brand is able to provide this via direct relationships with publishers, performing rights organizations and record labels (including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and more).

Unsupported Services

Services such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Tidal and Deezer are not suitable for use in business. These platforms are for personal, private use only - it is not legal to use them when playing music to an audience and you could risk being faced with a fine.

"You can’t broadcast or play Spotify publicly from a business, such as bars, restaurants, schools, stores, salons, dance studios, radio stations, etc. To play in a commercial environment, check out our friends at Soundtrack Your Brand."

More Information about Music Licensing in Finland

The music licensing landscape in Finland is relatively similar to that of the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. There are two main organizations concerned with collecting and distributing royalties, however it is possible to organize a music license via a single, combined initiative. Teosto and Gramex are the two primary organizations, with a business friendly offering in the form of Musiikkiluvat.

Music authors and publishers came together in 1928 aiming to protect and grow the Finnish music industry. Creators including composers Erkki Melartin and Leevi Madetoja help to found Teosto, Tekijät ja Sanoittajat Oikeutta Vaatimaan or Composers and Lyricists to Demand Their Right.

Later, in 1967, Gramex, Grammofonplateprodusentenes og artistenes vederlagsfond or the Gramophone Record Producers and Artists' Remuneration Fund was also established.

Working collaboratively, Gramex and Teosto founded GT Musiikkiluvat in 2016 as a partnership to make it easier and simpler for businesses to purchase and manage their music licenses.

How to Get a License in Finland

A Musiikkiluvat license is fully comprehensive, covering music and video content together. It is possible to get a quote and purchase a music license online, with a few exceptions where it may be required to contact customer service.

You will need to share some essential company information, such as the size of the location, the business type and how many months of the year music will be played for.
